onship. vern, what does the team's schedule look like today? >> well ann i mean there's a sea of red out here but it's falcon red. as far as the 49ers' schedule, they had an hour and a half walk through. let's take a look here as they return to the team hotel after the final dress rehearsal. this is the last piece of video we will see before the game tomorrow. the 49ers are favored anywhere from 3 to 4.5 points. so much has been talked about this match-up. but the bottom line is the 49ers truly believe that they will go in and win this game and advance to their sixth super bowl. >> forget about your personal stuff on the field. it's out there to win. >> you buying that? >> i think -- i think harbaugh will keep everybody focused. he's a good coach and i think he will keep everybody on the game plan. and i think that they'll be fine. they'll be fine.

>> you know i'd like our focus and concentration to be the highest it's been. you know, i'd like you know guys to go out there and play the best game they've ever played here. that's the hope, that's the expectation and we'll find out all of the things on sunday. >> reporter: yeah that's fan which is that's jim harbaugh talking about no distractions the completely focus. the issue has been michael crab tee the 49er -- crabtree the 49er body receiver in the midst of the alleged sexual assault abuse from last weekend. we look for michael crabtree when the team arrived at the team hotel. we didn't see them but he is with the team. he is their biggest offensive weapon as far as the receiving core go. they're looking for him to have a huge game and we'll see this storyline or the distraction comes to fruition. >> and what do you think? what's your hunch? do you think this is going to be a distraction or do you think that this is something that they will be able to keep out of the limelight and just

along the parade route and security preparations are underway for the big event. and inauguration day is usually january 20th but since it's a sunday this year the official swearing in will be held in private tomorrow and the public festivities will take place on monday. and kristin aers is in washington, d.c. to cover the event for us. they began today with a national day of service. >> reporter: that's right ann. it's become a tradition with the obama administration. a day of giving back and for one san francisco woman, we spoke to who came all the way out here, this wasn't just a day for giving back. it was also one for giving thanks for an obama policy that she says saved her life. president obama rolled up his sleeves to help spruce up a washington, d.c. elementary school today. the president and first lady stained a bookshelf as part of the national day of service project. >> the very young people did some really good work and some of the older folks like me who

it hurt getting our knees kind of bending down a little bit. we were able to manage also. >> reporter: vice president joe biden and his wife joined volunteers assembling care packages for soldiers. all told the white house says volunteers in all 50 states pitched in. ♪ ♪ at a volunteer summit designed to recruit year-round volunteers we met erica chain who came -- erica chain who came all the way from san francisco. she painted is washington, d.c. elementary school a day after meeting mr. obama face the face. >> it's unreal. i walked out of the oval office yesterday and i had to have someone from tech pinch me and i said i felt it. it's really. it did happen. and it's really just an honor. >> reporter: it was chain's way of saying thank you to the obama campaign. chain suffered a brain tumor in 2010 while she was out of the country and uninsured. >> i started applying to every insurance plan that i could because they had to perform brain surgery to keep me alive.

station in san leandro has killed a man and injured a woman. the station was closed all afternoon, fol uble shooting. a shooting at the bay fair b.a.r.t. station has killed a man and injured a woman. the station was closed all afternoon following the double shooting. cbs 5 reporter elizabeth wenger is at the station where passengers have been shuttled to other nearby stations. >> reporter: a lot of confusion all afternoon as you said ann. here at the bay fair b.a.r.t. station within the last half

hour, they do have one direction of the track now open. so folks can use b.a.r.t. here to head on the fremont and the dublin pleasanton lines. that shooting happened shortly after noon. it was directly across from the station located here on the boulevard. b.a.r.t. police tell us multiple shots rang out and that's when one african-american male a 40-year- old was killed. another female victim has nonlife-threatening injuries and she's supposed to be okay. police have one suspect and the suspect is in custody. at this point they're not sure about others that may still be on the loose. police have been very busy. talk to be witnesses and monitoring -- talking to witnesses and monitoring surveillance video on a nearby bus. they're hoping it may give them some clues as to who did this and why. they don't know if it was random. another shooting at the pittsburgh bay point station

last month. this type of crime still not common. >> that's a rare occasion for the b.a.r.t. district. we don't have a number of shootings whether it be in daylight or at nighttime. so this is atypical. b.a.r.t. is a safe and secure system. >> reporter: b.a.r.t.'s police say they caught that suspect in a nearby residential neighborhood and again the latest update here from the bay fair b.a.r.t. station is they've got one direction of track. you can use it to head towards the fremont and the dublin pleasanton areas. live from bay fair, i'm elizabeth wenger, cbs 5. this was the day gun advocates rallied around the country voicing their opposition from puff low, new york -- buffalo, new york to austin texas, to harrisburg, pennsylvania. the sentiment was the same. anger at president obama's sweeping package of federal gun control proposals and one of the rallies unfolded on the coast of san mateo county. cbs 5 reporter patrick sedillo

we received a call for forest service in distress -- surf in distress. they were being sucked out. >> at san francisco's ocean beach, a good indication of the kind of surf we're seeing in california this weekend. strong rip currents overcame four surfers, the coast guard was called out to make sure that they made it back in. a high surf advisory is up until tomorrow evening.

roberta's been watching those -- the surf i mean obviously people are waiting for maverick. tomorrow but it's dangerous too. >> i kind of considered myself a strong swimmer and i wouldn't even be out in the water right now not especially with the rip current danger and we have that in effect for tomorrow certainly as well. good evening everyone, let's step on outside and take a look at that surf advisory. it is a high surf advisory in effect until 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. right there at half-moon day. 63-degrees -- bay. 63-degrees. that rip current risk is on the high side with the offshore wind at 15 miles an hour. many people flocking to the beaches today because boy did we have a warmup. for the first time this year, we realized a temperature at 70 degrees. and guess where that was? right there in oakland. the coolest location was also east of the bay right there in livermore and in concord. 64 degrees in san jose. above the average of 57 degrees typically experienced this time of the year. 65 in santa rosa. average high is 56. same story in san francisco. where today it was 63-degrees.

ooh isn't that beautiful? coat tower all aglow donning the 49er colors, where currently in san francisco the air temperature is now 58 degrees. the temperatures will still fall to sub freezing many in of the in-- in many of the inland locations like santa rosa. it will be freezing in livermore. 39 in san jose and 36 redwood city but i have to tell you tonight will be the last night of this current cold snap with below freezing temperatures. just slightly above freezing by sunday night going into monday. here we do have a bank of clouds. just riding high over the ridge of high pressure that is that dominant feature for the state of california keeping us on the dry side. tomorrow, just a couple of degrees cooler than what we experienced today. but still, it's an offshore flow out of the northeast. 10 to 15 miles per hour. low 60s in pacifica. low mid 60s across the bay. upper 50s to low 60s east of the bay and a pair of 6s that's what you can expects in san jose. the extended forecast calls for
